In the K League 2, the winning side of each match receives 3 points, the losing side receives no points, and in the case of a draw, both teams receive 1 point each. The final ranking is determined by the total points accumulated; if points are equal, the ranking is decided by the total number of goals scored. If two or more teams have equal points, the rankings are determined in the following order: a) Total goals scored; b) Goal difference; c) Number of wins; d) Head-to-head results; Promotion and Relegation Rules: Teams ranked 1st and 2nd in points are directly promoted to K League 1; Teams ranked 3rd to 6th will compete in promotion play-offs, and the winner of the play-off final will be promoted to K League 1. If Gimcheon Sangmu does not finish at the bottom (above 12th place) in the 2026 K League 1 season, the winner of the promotion play-off final will be promoted to K League 1, and the loser of the play-off final will compete in a promotion-relegation play-off against the last-placed team of the K League 1 regular season.
