Information
The Iranian Super League consists of 16 teams, playing a double round-robin format (double round-robin: each team plays against every other team twice, once at home and once as an away team). A total of 30 rounds are played, with points calculated as follows: 3 points for a win, 0 points for a loss, and 1 point each for a draw. Teams are ranked based on their total points.
If two or more teams have the same number of points, rankings will be determined according to the following order:
a) Points earned in head-to-head matches; if the two teams have not completed all their matches against each other, their head-to-head record will not be considered.
b) Goal difference in head-to-head matches;
c) Goal difference overall;
d) Total goals scored;
e) Fair play points;
Due to the tight schedule of the 2025–2026 season, the Iranian Super League has been used to determine the participating teams for next season’s AFC Champions League ahead of schedule. The top three teams will automatically qualify for next season’s AFC Champions League:
- Tehran Independent, who finish first in the league, will directly earn a spot in the AFC Champions League Elite stage.
- Sabah Tabriz, who finish second in the league, will advance to the AFC Champions League Elite Play-off stage.
- Sepahan, who finish third in the league, will use the spot originally reserved for the Iran Cup champion to secure a spot in the AFC Champions League 2nd tier (AFC Champions League 2).
